Future Arts Workers of Worcester

In partnership with the Worcester Public Schools, this new paid apprenticeship program introduces a cohort of Worcester Public Schools juniors and seniors to the basics of arts administration. From writing the call for art to project budgets, the students collaboratively plan and produce their own juried exhibition. As a selective, after-school career-development program, Future Arts Workers provides a meaningful credential for future employment and educational opportunities, while cultivating a home-grown workforce for Worcester’s many arts and culture organizations.

Future Arts Workers is supported by the Clementi Family Charitable Trust, the Hanover Insurance Foundation, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, and the Hermann Foundation.

Assets for Artists

Funded by Greater Worcester Community Foundation and the Barr Foundation, Assets for Artists (a program of MassMOCA) is a six-month capacity-building program for ten selected Worcester County artists and creatives, with an emphasis on artists of color and those who identify as low-to-moderate income. These artists take part in workshops with an emphasis on financial and project planning, professional development services, one-on-one coaching sessions in the development of the artist’s career plan, and social activities creating a strong and supportive network. It also includes a $2,000 unrestricted grant that serves as working capital to be strategically invested in the artist’s creative practice.

As host and facilitator, ArtsWorcester also showcases each year the practices, progress, and experiences of the selected artists.

North Corridor Exhibitions

ArtsWorcester invites community-based organizations to consider collaborative exhibitions of artwork or other cultural materials in the North Corridor of the Printers Building. Previous participating organizations include CENTRO, African Community Education, and the mural assistants for Worcester’s Black Lives Mural project. This partnership introduces the cultural work of participating organizations to a broader audience, provides early exhibition experience, and brings new artists into our exhibiting membership.
